Fabricated Anomalies were started in 2005 by RejectEffect's Timothy Gaewsky and will continue as one of RejectEffect's on-going projects. As Gaewsky explained, We are interested in how the fabrication of situations or anomalies in public spaces may break up or disturb the banality of everyday life. We're intrigued by spectacles such as Virgin Mary sightings in anything from a grilled cheese sandwich to salt stains from a highway underpass. The vehement reaction of some people towards these sightings is just one example of a desire to experience something extra-ordinary throughout our predictable, scripted lives, however ephemeral the experience may be. Our intentions are not to compete at the grand scale of the Virgin Mary sightings, but to offer a quieter, more subtle contemplation.
